Crash Causes Fire In Westchester: Developing

A motor-vehicle crash that caused a fire to burn alongside a busy Northern Westchester road also resulted in the temporary closure of a portion of the busy main route.

The crash, involving a motorcycle, happened on Saturday, July 15 around 2:30 p.m. on Route 9 southbound in Croton-on-Hudson, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. 

The incident resulted in a blaze that burned on the side of the road, requiring a response from the Croton and Montrose Fire Departments. 

The crash also caused Route 9 to temporarily close between Albany Post Road in Montrose to Senesqua Road in Croton. The road has since reopened. 

More details about the crash, including the extent of the driver's injuries, have not yet been released by police.
